I HATE second life, for good reasons. You don't wanna read this: each avatar for second life requires MORE energy than a REAL human being in Brazil. Not kidding. See this website, it's much better!

I am the Phsycotherapist....
If you go into a bash terminal and type "emacs" (make sure you have emacs installed), then type x at the same time as escape. Wait til the m-X appears at the bottom of the screen, and then type "doc" or "doctor" (obviously without the quotes). You should get a message saying "I am the phsycotherapist." come up. Type random stuff in, and enjoy!!!

Stupid motherfu*kin VPC
OMG why can't there be a good VM thing for mac os x that emulates PPC, not intel, or both. Then I could run PPC linux inside a virtual machine on a PPC computer (which I use)!!! A bit like VMware, but for ppc. It's not happening anytime soon.

Easy ubuntu install
Interested in linux, have a rather slow connection and don't want to risk losing data? Wubi is just the tool for you. Grab a copy at wubi-installer.org, run the program, choose your username and password and it will automatically download the alternate Ubuntu ISO and install on a virtual partition!
WARNING: If you have Vista, Wubi will corrupt your bootloader and basically require you to at least fixmbr. It's for Windows XP only!

Ubuntu installer
If you're thinking of downloading and installing linux, but have slow internet, download the alternate text-based installer from Ubuntu.com, which doesn't include the livecd, and is just a text-based installer iso, making it a few hundred megs smaller.
Frozen Bubble
Anyone heard of a cool game called frozen-bubble? I can't be bothered to give links, but you can google it yourself. There's an actual app for linux, but some hero made a java version so you can use it on any platform, if it supports java. And there's a JavaScript one aswell, I heard from Mal, which is less memory-hungry.

Probs with Linux
Anyone having trouble installing Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn under VPC on mac/windows? Unfortunately because of a bug with Ubuntu 7.04, it doesn't support emulated PS/2 mouse, which is nicely just what VPC does when running alternate OSes. But, yay, I know how to fix the problem!!!! First, make sure that you start Ubuntu in safe graphics mode (there's a bug with VPC that makes the graphics go all weird if you don't), when it's started up press left option (alt on PC) + F1. That should select the applications menu. Then navigate with the arrow keys to System > Preferences > Accessibility > Keyboard Accessibility. When the dialog opens, check "Enable Keyboard Access" or something like that. Then use tabs and arrow keys to select the tab "Mouse Keys" or something. Check "Enable Mouse Keys", press tab until "Close" is selected, and press spacebar to select. You can now move the mouse using your number key pad. Easy, huh?
For laptop users with compact keyboards:
You may not have a seperate number keypad on your keyboard, but one that you can activate by pressing num lock. You will have to do this every time you use your mouse. Maybe you should just install Linux on a real partition instead of slow-as-sh*t vpc!!!

SuperTux
If you were wondering if there were any cool games for Linux, you should see SuperTux, an open-source game designed for Linux, but also available for Mac OS X. (I admit that I don't use Linux yet, and use the Mac version. At least I don't stoop as low as Windoze, not like Mal!)

beryl (mal: see post below)
You say that writing that terminal command would install beryl. An unlucky computer illiterate might try that one day thinking it would download it from the net for them if they didn't already have an uncompiled one on their computer. (I'm pretty sure that's not what it does?) They'll get a nasty surprise!!! lol

Got Linux? Want eye candy?
The easiest way to get Beryl/XGL is:
Go to your terminal/console/bash prompt and type:
sudo apt-get install beryl && apt-get install emerald-themes && apt-get install beryl-manager
This will only work if beryl is in your distro's repositories.

Macromedia Eastereggs
In Macromedia flash pro 8, when you click about flash pro from the Flash menu (in windows i think is the help menu) you get a couple of pretty cool eastereggs. Just click the dot above the i in Macromedia, or around it until the screen flashes white and you get 6 cool flash games! I got this from Malachy, but you can find plenty more cool eastereggs at eeggs.com.

For new Linux users
Did you know that most Linux distributions come with a super-fast download tool? Open Terminal/Konsole/Consloe or whatever and type (FIles are saved to your Home folder by default):
user@whatever:~$ wget [url]
