Leopard *growl*
Me and fela just installed Leopard - it's AMAZING. Seriously, I think it's the best OS that has come out of apple so far.
Screenshots and review soon.

Leopard tommorow...
Me (rot13srynznfyra) and Mal are sharing the £85 price tag for the new version of Mac OS X, 10.5 Leopard. I'm gonna go and get it from the apple store tomorrow. Anyway, I'll/we'll give you a proper review when it comes. I am ready for teh bugz life! No seriously, I'm gonna be careful cos I heard that there was a bug where if you try and move (note that I say move and not copy) file(s) over to/from an external drive, and while the data's still moving over the drive accidentally gets unplugged, the Finder thinks that it's copied it all over, and deletes the original file (that's cos you said move and not copy), so you lose part of your data, or all of it if it's one file. Be careful about that one! Hope they fix it soon.

BSoD on a mac (my mac)
This is a video of me making Windows 95 Blue Screen of Death, inside VPC. I did it by making an HTML document that tries to access C:\con\con, which makes it BSoD.
Still image:
UPDATE: Notice that you still see the normal GUI top and bottom? That's because the aspect ratio of the BSoD is different to the normal desktop, and the excess at the top and bottom isn't being redrawn. I.E you still see what was there before where the BSoD doesn't replace. I think that was a glitch of VPC though, as it didn't happen another time (as in the image below the video).

Megatasking
You might think I'm being pathetic in calling this megatasking, but when you take into account that I am doing this with 256MB of RAM and a Pentium 4, it's a whole different story. And the machine was still running surprisingly fast. (As in very responsive.) Linux and the GNOME desktop seem to use the RAM very well, especially compared to Microsoft's Windows operating system.

Liger
Many people want Leopard, apple's latest and greatest version of OS X, but many people also don't want to cough up the $129/£85 for it. If you are one of those people, and currently use Tiger (10.4) then check out this excellent customization pack. (URL http://spiderlama.deviantart.com/art/Liger-57706188) I reckon It's about as far as you'll get your tiger installation to look like leopard. Many thanks to the person who made this!

Vista is so useless!
My friend's computer runs Vista. Actually, his laptop that has 512MB RAM runs Vista.
Anyway, one day I was at his house, changing his DNS settings for him. I put some information in a text file, which was in the Documents folder. I then cut and pasted the text file to the desktop.
Vista then proceeded to spend a whole 20 seconds "estimating time remaining", then finally copied the file in about 1sec.
Thanks, Microsoft.
Mac4Lin with 1GB RAM
Mac4Lin looks much better when you can run compiz.
Although Fela managed to get his theme looking pretty good - he hasn't posted an update but it looks AMAZING.

Leopard look-alike
I've got the Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard look on my gnome desktop pretty good now, as you can see. The main drawback is that I don't have a good enough graphics card for compiz, and consequently can't use Avant Window Navigator to emulate a dock.

Google's unreadable code
This is a section of one of the JavaScript files of Google's translator tool. It's an example of very badly written code, in that it's next to impossible to read. If someone was to go over this code, for example to fix a bug/improve it in some way or other, they wouldn't know where to start. Developers: Comment your code, and make it readable! It pays off.

Mac BSoD
Some people who are upgrading to Leopard are getting a "blue screen" - Which is actually just the background for the "Starting Mac OS X..." window. This blank blue screen appears for a while because Leopard basically runs the equivalent of fsck - however it just seems to crash on certain computers.

BSOD on a mac?! WTF?!?!?
That is NOT a BSOD. You don't get 'em on macs (unless running windoze). It's apple's equivalent of a bsod, except much less ugly. And much rarer.

KDE vs. GNOME
KDE vs. GNOME. That is the question. I run konqueror under gnome, and it just rocks so much that I'm beginning to see that the only real reason that I use GNOME and not KDE is not being bothered to install it. That's silly really, as there's a .deb package available in the Ubuntu repositories that you can install by just running sudo apt-get install kde. The thing is, to try it out I'd have to install it onto my system, cause I admit that I don't have enough RAM to run a full-blown desktop environment like kde or gnome inside a virtual machine. Ah well. I'll stick with gnome for the time being, although I'd very much like to try out Xfce or fluxbox, as I have a relatively low-end low-ram machine. I'll keep you posted though!
